Before looking into the dangers of steroids it is important for a person to know more about steroids, its types and occurrence.

What are Steroids?

Steroids are in general functional substances produced by most living organisms. There are over hundreds of steroids found in different species. The most important of them and the one which has been drawing great attention is Anabolic steroids.

What are Anabolic Steroids?

Anabolic steroids are nothing but a class of steroid hormones produced in vertebrates. These steroids are involved in bone and muscle synthesis by interaction with androgen receptors.
These hormonal substances are produced inside the human body in the form of the testosterone hormone which improves the synthesis of proteins. They are also synthesized for artificial use as performance enhancers by athletes and body builders.

Dangers of Steroids:

These steroids can yield great results for anyone specially teens using them but things are not the same in long term. Also current medical research has revealed that one time use of steroids can also be dangerous and can lead to permanent and undesirable side effects. In fact usage of steroids without medical prescription is referred to as ‘Steroid abuse
If one was to list the dangers of steroids, he would be making a long list which is consistently updated with every new research. Some of the common problems caused by steroids are increased rate of hair loss, shrinkage of testicles, high blood pressure levels, prostate enlargement, increased heart risks and sometimes causes death too.
These are the common side effects which every steroid user is prone too. However, there are additional problems which differ from one individual to another. The overall physical metabolism is affected and purpose is not satisfied as well. Body builders use steroids to enhance their appearance but they go on to lose it in a while. Let’s work to stop steroid abuse.
