what is Abortion?

Monday, September 5, 2011

An abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. This can occur spontaneously as a miscarriage or be artificially induced by medical, surgical or other means. "Abortion" can refer to an induced procedure at any point during human pregnancy; it is sometimes medically defined as either miscarriage or induced termination before the point of viability. Sadly to say there are times when we have to lose a life to save a life when a decision is made to terminate a pregnancy. An early termination is known as an abortion. There are people who strongly oppose abortions but unfortunately when it is a matter of life or death then there is no argument to fight.

Abortion ends a pregnancy before birth. It occurs naturally in 15–40 percent of all established pregnancies — when an embryo or fetus stops developing and the body expels it. This is called spontaneous abortion, miscarriage, or early pregnancy loss. Women choose abortion in less than 25 percent of the 6,000,000 pregnancies that are diagnosed in the U.S. every year — 50 percent of which are unintended. This is called induced abortion.

When is the procedure done?

Most places will only do a medical abortion using methotrexate and misoprostol up to seven weeks from the start of your last period. Where the mifepristone and misoprostol combination is available, it may be used slightly longer, up to nine weeks after your last period.

General instructions

Always check with your clinic, but general instructions before undergoing an abortion include:
  • Don’t eat, drink or smoke for six hours before the operation.
  • Allow for at least two hours at the clinic.
  • Bring sanitary pads, your referral letter, blood group card, Medicare card and any health care card.
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home.

    Can abortion lead to infertility?

Inflammation of the Fallopian tubes and ovaries caused by the Chlamydia organism is the most common cause of infertility following an abortion. Examination for Chlamydia is now routine in most hospitals and clinics and, if necessary, the patient will be treated before the abortion is carried out.

    Private abortions

You can contact a private abortion clinic without being referred by a doctor. However, the NHS will not pay for this, and before the abortion can take place, the agreement of two doctors is still required. The clinic will make the arrangements. Costs for abortions in private clinics vary, and will depend on:

  • which organization, or company, carries out the abortion,
  • the stage of pregnancy (earlier abortions are usually less expensive),
  • whether an overnight stay is needed, and
  • the method of abortion that is used.

If you are considering an abortion, it is important to talk to somebody about it as soon as possible.

Beauty Benefits of Vitamin C
On a beauty note, adding Vitamin C to your skin care routine can help you look great on many levels. The topical use of Vitamin C revitalizes your skin, allowing for improvement in the tone and texture! You will instantly look younger with smooth and silky skin on your face and body. It works to protect you against UVB rays and can help you combat sun damage, wrinkles and photodamage. These are some of the most common skin worries of women today.

Effective Topical Products with Vitamin C For Skin Care
Cosmetic gurus and their sources are taking note of the power behind Vitamin C and are adding it and its derivatives to many products on the market. Derivatives like ascorbyl palmitate and ascorbic acid are commonly used, because they are less irritating than Vitamin C itself. Those with sensitive skin can still reap the protection and natural benefits of Vitamin C, without any irritation.

Beneficial Vitamin C in Cosmetics
When you start your venture for Vitamin C induced skin care products, there are a few things to remember. First, remember there are many claims being made from various companies on their skin care products. To find the best products with Vitamin C, be sure to look at the color of the product. Those products with a yellow or brown tint should be avoided. Vitamin C often turns these colors when exposed to air and thus becomes ineffective in creating collagen and elastic.

Protect Your Skin This Summer

Monday, February 21, 2011

This Memorial Day weekend, the Summer sun will be shining, you’ll be out in your backyard or on the beach, sipping brews and hitting the grill. But, be careful. There’s a silent killer hovering in the ether above your festivities. It’s sun damage. At the very least it’s going to make you a wrinkly old man before your time, and at the very worst it’s going to bring your ‘time’ on a lot earlier than it ought to be. Here’s some tips to keep yourself safe, handsome, and young in the sun.
Protect yourself working out

A lot of guys don’t wear sunscreen when they’re working out because their brains go into a mode where they’re doing something healthy, so nothing bad could happen to them. Staying on the lake, on the court, or on the road for an extended period of time is often worse than just sunning yourself because you’re distracted by the activity, and don’t realize how burned you’re getting.
Take a siesta

The sun is closest to the Earth’s surface, and hence, most powerful, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. So, take a page out of the French playbook, and take a siesta during part or all of that time. Not only will it protect your skin, but taking a break in the middle of the day has been proven to reduce your risk of heart disease. You’re going to live forever having midday quickies with your lady.
Stay out of the tanning booth

Most people use tanning booths because their jobs prevent them from soaking up the rays during the day. But some people actually consider these sizzling, skin darkeners to be safer than actually tanning in the normal sun. This is categorically false. Tanning booths will make the claim that they use ‘harmless’ UVA rays to induce a darker hue, but both UVA and UVB rays are forms of ultraviolet light, and both can cause damage to your skin, and even subdermally.
Eat dark chocolate

A recent study at the European Dermatology London clinic suggested that eating large amounts of dark chocolate can lower a person’s risk of developing skin cancer. The chocolate has to be extra dark, like you like your coffee, because that’s the stuff that is very high in flavanols. These are the antioxidants that help to combat the free radicals caused by UV damage that induce skin cancers. Nom nom nom!
Check in with your doctor

Checking in with your doctor, especially if you’ve got lighter skin and/or spend a lot of time in the sun, is key to preventing serious medical skin conditions. Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is best treated if detected early. If doctors can catch it in Phase 1 or 2, the likelihood of removal and subsequent cure is much greater. Phase 3, however, is usually not treatable by conventional methodology.

Deep breathing

Techniques Can Reduce the Effects of Stress on the Body
Deep Breathing Exercise Technique to Try

To practice deep breathing, you will need ten minutes of uninterrupted time and a kitchen timer.

1. The first step is to give yourself permission to practice deep breathing, forgetting any ideas of multi-tasking. Promise yourself 5-10 minutes, twice a day, every day.

2. Turn off the cell phone, shut the office door (or go sit in your car) and make sure you can give your full attention to doing nothing.

Techniques Can Reduce the Effects of Stress on the Body

3. Get yourself in a comfortable position. You may be sitting or lying down: it doesn't matter.

4. Loosen tight clothes, and take off your shoes if they aren't comfortable.

5. Set your timer for 10 minutes (or 5 if you're just starting and fear that 10 minutes of sitting quietly may drive you mad. It won't, though, and you can work your way up to it gradually.)

6. Relax your body. Those muscles you usually suck in, let go of. Let your face droop, too (many of us hold lots of tension in our jaws and foreheads. Especially if you're prone to headaches, relaxing your face will be most helpful.

Techniques Can Reduce the Effects of Stress on the Body

7. Close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. Usually, the chest rises when you breathe. In deep breathing, your stomach will rise. Feel your stomach rising and falling. If your mind is racing, count your breaths. Otherwise, just concentrate on your breathing. Usually, your mind will wander, so when it does, gently remind it that you are just breathing now and will think of other things later. Don't get mad at yourself, and don't give up after only a few tries.

Techniques Can Reduce the Effects of Stress on the Body
And that's all there is to it. When your time is up, the timer will ring. If you've managed to fall asleep, it may be because you've been so tightly keyed up that releasing your anxiety for a few minutes gave you some much-needed rest. Don't feel bad about that!

Eyes wash tips

Thursday, January 6, 2011

One of the unfortunate things about home remedies is that they cannot be an all in one cure and it is best that you take different herbs for different symptoms. This is the basic problem with recommending herbal eyewash. Usually, a really effective eyewash is one that is tailor made to remove an offending object or substance in the eye and this largely depends on what goes into your eye in the first place. What can be prescribed is a series of rules that you can follow to remove material from your eye.

If you get a small object in your eye, the eye will naturally produce tears to flush the object out. Sometimes, however, these tears are not enough, and the eye will need some help getting the object out. If you do not have any eyewash available, plain water is the next best option. Read on to learn how to wash your eyes with water:

Things You’ll Need:

    * A large-sized bowl
    * An eye-sized cup
    * Lukewarm water
    * Towel/Paper towels

Steps:

    * Make sure the water is lukewarm, not too hot or too cold. Either too hot or too cold could harm your eyes. The bowl will need to be big enough for you to dunk your head. Once you face is in the bowl and under water, open your eyes and look from side to side and up and down.
    * The second choice is using an eye cup. An eye cup is a cup that is the size of the eye. You put water into the cup and tilt your head forward and place the cup against your eye. Then, with one smooth motion tilt your head back. Be sure to hold the cup tight against your eye. Open your eye and look from side to side and up and down.
    * And finally, do not wash your eyes out while you are bathing or showing. Instead, after or before you are done in the shower or bath you can splash distilled water in your eyes to rinse them out.

Tips:

    * Expect to get wet with any of these techniques.
    * Some drug stores sell eye washing kits that contain a good eye-sized cup and sterile washing solution.
    * To some people it is very uncomfortable to get water in the eye, since the natural eye milieu is salty. If this is the case, stir one teaspoon of salt into one liter of water until dissolved. This will give you a mildly salty solution that you can use to wash out your eyes.
    * You can also use these techniques if you think conjunctivitis is coming on.
    * Make sure you change the solution for each eye so you don’t swap possible bacteria.

Advice:

    * Do not use water that is too hot or too cold.
    * Do not overuse salt. Too much salt can cause cells to burst and feel very uncomfortable or even painful.

Wedding represents the most important day in the life of a bride: skin tips

Wedding represents the most important day in the life of a bride

Wedding represents the most important day in the life of a bride. So, it is quite natural that she wants to look her best on the day. To attain this very purpose, most of the brides opt for skin care treatments with their beauticians, apart from appointments with their hair stylist. Sure, bliss makes you smile brightly, but, often, that coveted bridal glow is more a cultivated art than a happy coincidence. Fortunately, depending on the state of your budget, time frame, age and the manageability of your skin. Glowing brides are not born that way.

Skin care for bride and bridal party is an important part of the pre-wedding process. If you want to know how to make your skin glowing for wedding day joy. Along with beauty treatments from professionals, there needs to some efforts on the bride’s part as well, to make sure that it looks soft, smooth and glowing. There are a number of skin care tips that a bride needs to keep in mind, before the wedding as well as on the D-day. Some of them have been mentioned in the lines below.

Skin Care Tips For Brides

Stay Happy:

What goes in your mind is reflected through your face. So it is very important to stay happy and relaxed. Don’t stress yourself and let the others do the running around.

Proper Cleansing:

One of the first things that you need to undertake, as a part of your bridal skin care, is a proper cleansing routine. Use a mild cleanser for your face, while having a bath in the morning, and apply a good moisturizer soon after. If, and when, you wear makeup, remove it as soon as you get back home, with the help of a proper makeup remover. Always wash your face before going to bed, at night, and follow it with the application of a good moisturizer. Last, but not the least, make use of a good exfoliating product, at least thrice a week.

Oily Skin:

If the bride is young and has oily skin, Arbonne’s Intelligence Line is perfect. Arbonne’s mineral powder foundation as well as their liquid foundations work wonderfully well together the combination ensures low breakouts and oil control.

Good Diet & Proper Sleep:

Following a proper and balanced diet forms a very important part of bridal skin care. What goes inside you has a bearing on the outward appearance as well. Drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day and include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Having a sound sleep is also essential for a glowing skin. You might also indulge in meditation and yoga.

Breakouts:

If the bride experiences breakouts close to the day of her wedding, another great product inclusive with the Intelligence line is it’s Thermal Fusion Enzyme mask this is the product that sold me on Arbonne. This exfoliating mask is uniquely formulated with Thermal Fusion technology to increase microcirculation and cell proliferation and combines the benefits of a scrub and a masque for deep-cleansing results.

Use The Regular Brand Cosmetics:

While you might afford to explore new brand or new type of cosmetics in the normal routine, the months prior to your wedding is certainly not the time to do so. In fact, you should stick to your regular brand for cosmetics as far as possible. Ignore the latest commercial in the television about the ‘magic concealer’ that has come in the market or the ‘new lipstick’ that makes your lips look much fuller and shinier. This is because a new product might trigger allergies on your skin, especially if the latter is too sensitive, and end up leaving spots or scars. So, it is better to put off the experiments for after the
wedding.

Some More Tips:

   1. Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.
   2. Drink atleast 8 glasses of water in a day.
   3. Proper sleep is also important for glowing skin.
   4. Make a daily proper cleansing routine.
   5. Use exfoliating products atleast thrice a week.
   6. Always use a proper makeup remover to remove your daily makeup.
   7. Always apply sunblock before going out in Day timings.
   8. Reduce caffeine consumption and contains sugar.
   9. Before buying beauty products always keep your skin type in mind.
  10. Daily exercise will help you to maintain your body shape.

Cola Could Be Bad For Sperm

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Danish researchers claim that men who drink at least a quart of cola a day may have be hurting their little soldiers. The study revealed that men who drank this much cola had 30 percent fewer sperm than men who did not. But it’s not caffeine that might be making your swimmers drop out of the race, as coffee didn’t appear to have the same effect. Instead, researchers are looking toward other ingredients or an overall unhealthy lifestyle as the cause.
The more than 2500 men who participated in the study showed that those who didn’t drink cola averaged about 50 million sperm per milliliter of semen and lived healthier lives. On the other hand the 93 men who drank about 34 ounces of cola a day had 35 million sperm per milliliter. Aside from guzzling that cola, there were also more likely to eat a lot of fast food and less fruits and vegetables.
So next time you reach for that cool, refreshing cola you might what to think if you’re willing to throw your boys under the bus.

The Whole Tooth: What Dentists Can Tell About Your Health

The Whole Tooth: What Dentists Can Tell About Your Health

I’m always fascinated by police-procedural shows, especially when they find a decomposing body and manage to reconstruct a victim’s entire life and death based on her teeth and dental records. “Judging by these abrasions,” the medical examiner says, “I can tell that she was left-handed, chewed on her pen caps, and enjoyed the opera.” Case closed.
If someone were to analyze my own teeth, I wonder what he’d determine …he’d probably figure out that I have a predilection for candy, don’t chew gum, and wore braces as a child. But I assume my teeth would probably show that I am an otherwise extremely healthy individual. Your dentist can look at your teeth and tell a lot more about your health than whether or not you floss. We already know how pivotal flossing and gum care are, but the teeth themselves are important, too. Many health problems manifest themselves in our teeth—and what’s going on in someone’s mouth can reveal much about what’s going on in the rest of her body.
Loose Lips Become Broken Hips
Loosening teeth can indicate the onset of osteoporosis. When the jaw’s bone density decreases, the teeth themselves can lose their anchor and fall out. If a dentist notices a patient (usually elderly and female) with loose teeth, detached gums, or dentures that begin to fit poorly, he’ll often recommend that she be screened for the disease. Drugs to retain bone density can help, but women with osteoporosis should also be vigilant about brushing and flossing, since gum disease can speed up and compound the process of tooth loss.
Tooth loss is strongly associated with chronic kidney disease as well. In a study published in the September 2008 Journal of Periodontology, adult participants who had lost all their teeth were found to be more likely to suffer from renal disease. Although the data is too new to show exactly how the two afflictions are related, doctors theorize that the link seems to be the chronic inflammation that characterizes both conditions. It’s well known that patients with uncontrolled diabetes have much higher instances of gum disease, oral infections, cavities, and other dental problems, and because diabetes lowers the immune system’s response to infection, extra bacteria in the mouth have a better chance of seeping into the bloodstream and infecting the rest of the body.

The Role Of Protein As A Fat Burner

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

The Role Of Protein As A Fat BurnerScientific studies have recently been conducted to verify the fact that if you eat more protein, especially during a lowered calorie diet, you will wind up losing less muscle tissue than those who don't. It should be pointed out here that the number one thing to remember when losing weight with any method, is to make sure you don't lose too much muscle mass. Muscles increase the metabolism greatly which means if we lose enough of it, our metabolism can drop sharply.

Muscles burn fat because they need calories for maintenance. So the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn daily. People who go on starvation diets lose large amounts of muscle tissue. When these people return to normal eating habits, their metabolism will actually work slower from the lost muscle mass. They will tend to put on even more weight than they initially lost from dieting and losing weight becomes even harder and frustrating.

Protein is a word that literally means "of prime importance". It is an essential nutrient that is used to build the body, especially the muscles. It's also used to build organs, hair, hormones, nails and many more body parts. The human body cannot operate or survive without adequate protein. People who tend to have issues with their weight were found to eat much less protein than needed. Your protein needs will be much higher if you regularly engange in exercise or are very mentally active.

Protein is such a useful tool for weight loss in many ways, one of them being for it's thermic value. Of all the food types, protein has the highest thermic value which means that it is the hardest to digest and uses up more calories in the process. Taking longer to digest, it will leave you feeling satisfied for a longer period of time. It also doesn't cause your blood sugar level to spike too quickly.

An important aspect of protein is that it's made up of what's called amino acids. There are actually 12 essential amino acids that the body is unable to produce by itself and has to acquire them from external food sources. The majority of people are deficient in certain amino acids. This is either because they simply don't consume enough, or that they don't eat foods that have high quality protein within them that the body can easily assimilate. Eggs and yogurt contain protein of high biological value. What this means is that we can use this type of protein much easier than other types. Another good source is whey protein powder.

If the foods that you eat regularly are low in nutrients and amino acids, your body will be hungry more often. This is because it needs to eat a lot to get those nutrients that it needs. If on the other hand, you started to eat nutrient-dense foods, the body will need less food and only need food when it needs calories for energy. This is actually one of the biggest reasons why people fail on crash or fad types of diets. They feel intense hunger when depriving their body from what it really needs.

It needs to be mentioned here that when cook protein, parts of it actually get transformed and destroys certain key amino acids. Protein is sensitive to heat, so it is a good idea to add a few raw protein sources to your current diet. These could include seeds, yogurt, nuts, fruit, some vegetables, whey and cheese that have not been cooked. This will provide you with all 12 of those essential amino acids that the body craves. It can then produce the other acids from the initial 12.

To also help preserve the muscle tissue in the body, you can do more exercise or weight training. If your body needs it's muscle for frequent motion, it will tend not to use them as fuel. It will begin using stores of fat to feed the muscles and cells in the body.

About the author:

Would you like to find out how you can turn your body into a complete fat burner? You definitely need to read the ebook titled: "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle". It contains many fat busting secrets that work in the real world because they have been used by models and bodybuilders. To find out more visit the above link.

How to control on Hair Losing??

Hearing Loss TestsAudiologists specialize in hearing loss and related disorders. If you’re suffering from hearing loss or tinnitus (ringing in the ears), your doctor might refer you to an audiologist for a complete evaluation. Let’s take a look at what you can expect from an audiology examination.

When you arrive at the audiologist’s office, you’ll be asked several questions about your medical history and your hearing loss. Your answers will help the audiologist become familiar with your needs, formulate a treatment plan, and make referrals if necessary.

Next, the audiologist will perform a physical examination of your ear using a tool called an otoscope. This tool allows the doctor to peer inside your ear canal to check for excessive wax, blockages, infection, or irregularities that need to be addressed.

Once the physical exam is done, the audiologist will conduct a tympanometry test. During this test, the audiologist uses a probe to determine how your eardrum responds to a change of pressure inside the ear. It’s a painless test that helps identify problems which would decrease the eardrum’s flexibility, such as infection or fluid build-up.

After the tympanometry test, the audiologist will administer an audiometry test. This test evaluates how well you can hear different tones at different volumes. First you’ll listen to sounds through a pair of headphones. Then the doctor will put a bone vibrator behind your ear to determine how well your inner ear conducts sounds. The results of the testing will tell the audiologist whether you have conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss, or a mixture of both.

When all the testing is complete, the audiologist will explain the results to you. They will make a recommendation based on their findings. Then you can ask any questions you have regarding your treatment plan.

Acne is a common problem faced by almost all teen-agers and youth. What is acne and why do we get them. Acne is actually caused because of hormone imbalance. Your skin breaks out because of a hormone called testosterone. Both men and women have testosterone in their systems. In fact, did you know that in order to make testosterone, boys bodies have to make female hormones first? If you have acne, you haven't got abnormal levels of testosterone. You've got skin that reacts abnormally to this hormone. You start producing testosterone around the time you start sprouting body hair. Testosterone tells glands in your skin, called sebaceous glands, to produce oily stuff called sebum. To add to the problem the inside of the tubes that hold each hair become gummy and get partially blocked - giving you blackheads. Put together if sebum blocks the tubes --- you have big acne.
So go to your pharmacist or doctor to get your acne treated. Here are a few tips that will help you know how to treat acne at home.
  1. If you have red angry looking acne, don't touch it. If you squeeze now, all you'll do is force the contents deeper into the skin that will make matters worst. And all you'll end up with is redder, angrier acne than you had before. Don't do it.
  2. If you have a yellow custard top? Go for it. These beauties CAN be squeezed but there's an art to it. Here's how. Wash your hands thoroughly to avoid trouble and infection. Put a tissue over your finger. Why? Because you want the contents of the spot on the tissue, not splattered all over the mirror. Using the side of your thumb and the end of your finger, very gently start to squeeze. Don't whatever you do, use your nails as this will damage your skin. Stop when you're applying a lot of pressure and nothing is happening and you see clear fluid, rather than yellow grotty stuff and the spot begins to bleed. When you've finished dab it with antiseptic. Once the custard bit is out, the spot will heal more quickly than an unsqueezed yellow top would, providing that you now leave it well alone. Now wash your hands again.
  3. Whiteheads and blackheads. If acne is left untreated they may cause this problem. Here the rule is if they're black, squeeze but if they're small, white raised lumps leave them alone. All that stuff about clean hands, tissues and stopping if nothing is happening or you see blood, apply here too.
- Tips for acne treatment -
  1. DON'T TRY TO WASH IT AWAY -
Acne isn't caused by dirt. In fact people with oily skin have cleaner skin than average because they wash it more often. But it's a fact that washing too much can make acne worse because it makes the skin dry and sore. So, wash no more than twice a day, using mild soap and water. If you have patches of dry skin, don't worry about putting moisturizer on. It won't make your acne worse. If you're still concerned, use an oil free moisturizer.
  2. DON'T NUKE 'EM -
There are lots of over the counter creams, gels, lotions and potions. Most contain a powerful bleaching agent called benzoyl peroxide. You'll find the strength written on the label. You might be tempted to go straight for the highest sort, working on the 'let's nuke 'em principle. The likely result is that you'll irritate your skin like mad. It may also go all dry and scaly on you. But if you still are willing to bleach then use the mild one.
  3. MAKE A DATE - THE TWO MONTH RULE -
If you have been using over the counter remedies for two months and there is no real improvement in your spots, this is the moment to go and make an appointment with your doc.
  4. YOUR DOCTOR - THE TWO MONTH RULE -
The thing you are most likely to be given by the doctor is a prescription for antibiotics. These will either be topical (which means something you put on your skin) or tablets you have to take every day. Whatever treatment your doctor or pharmacist recommends, follow the instructions carefully and keep using for at least two months. There should be a noticeable improvement by this time. If not, go back to discuss other possible treatments Antibiotics are perfectly safe to take. You should take them for at least two months and then go back to your doc. If they seem to be working, he will probably tell you to keep taking them and give you some more. If they aren't doing their stuff, don't despair - he has loads of other spot busters in his black bag.
  5. YOU ARE NOT AN ALIEN - BUT JUST BE PATIENT -
Hundreds of thousands of teenagers seek help for acne. You are not alone. You are not an alien. And if people really care about you, they don't even notice your acne, however bad you think they are. But you will need to be patient. Most treatments take time to work. At least two months. And some treatments, like antibiotics will work well but may have to be taken for months, or even years.
  6. THE MONTHLY CURSE OR EXAMS -
Acne does tend to get worse just before a period. It's because there is a surge in hormone levels at this time. But boys don't get away lightly either. Being hot and sweaty (particularly after sports like football) makes acne worse. And for everyone, stress - particularly at exam times - is a cue for a mega breakout. This is normal - and of course, even more reason for feeling stressed. Go chill. They'll get better - promise.
  7. WATCH WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR SKIN AND HAIR -
Some beauty products are big no-nos. These include pomades and defrizzing agents for hair that tend to cause an outcrop of blackheads along the hairline and some of the heavier cosmetics. And be wary of suntan oils. Not all will make you break out, but some may. Try a friend's first before you buy. By the way, the sun might dry up acne and a tan might hide them, but your skin is still vulnerable in the sun and needs protection.
  8. CARRY ON KISSING -
You can't catch acne during kissing - go for it!
  9. CARRY ON EATING CHOCOLATE -
It's a myth that eating chocolate and fried foods causes acne. However, eating a good diet improves your general well-being and this is reflected in your skin.
- Common Questions asked about acne problem -
  • Does wearing make up cause acne?It is not necessary that wearing make up causes acne. Acne is caused because of hormonal imbalance mostly during puberty. But you have to take special care while you apply make up and thereafter if you have acne. Make sure you wash any make up tools, including sponges and brushes as often as possible as these become a breeding ground for bugs which can cause your spots to pop up. Stop wearing make up if you have too many spots and you can resume after you have treated them. Don't forget to clean the make up after you come home and and make sure you cleanse your face properly each night.
  • Do skin toner and moisturizer cure acne?
One thing that you need to know is acne is not caused by dirt, so no amount of cleaning and toning is going to get rid of them. So for treating acne you must consult your doctor and eat lots of healthy food and drink lots of water. That is the natural way to keep you face spot free.
  • Is it ok to do facial? It can be a real treat to have the facial done, as they can be very relaxing and make you feel properly pampered. However, you should be aware that they should not be used to help 'treat' spots, as this can be quite dangerous if the beauty therapist is not trained. Sometimes a beauty therapist will also squeeze out any spots and blackheads that if it's not done properly, may cause a bigger problem than before.
  • What is the best way to cover up spots?Foundation is okay to use and may give you more confidence if you've got a hot date, but remember to look for oil-free one. Whatever you use to put on your skin, wash your hands or sponge before applying foundation.

Home Remedies - Probably the most popular home remedy for dark eye circles is to apply slices of raw potato or cucumber over the eyelids for about 15 minutes. Grated raw potato wrapped in cheesecloth can also be used. Potatoes contain catecholase, an enzyme that is used as a skin lightener in many cosmetics. You can apply freshly grated cucumber or the resultant juice over the eyes to lighten the area. Almonds are considered excellent skin food and it is believed that a paste of almonds applied over the eyes for about 10 minutes can go a long way in reducing dark under eye bags. Alternatively you can apply rich almond oil under the eyes. Vitamin E or olive oil is also regularly used in treating dark circles around the eyes. Another popular home remedy for dark eye circles is to place cool, used tea bags on the tired eyes. Applying crushed mint leaves around the eyes can also reduce dark circles.
Creams - Topical creams that have Vitamin K derivatives are prescribed for reducing dark eye circles. Antioxidant products containing Vitamins C and E are known to stimulate fibroblast activity in the dermal layer and help firm up the skin. This can greatly reduce baggy eyes that are dark and sagging. Over-the-counter products containing kinetin or AHA are available for regular use to reduce severe under eye circles. Chemical peels may be effective in reducing chronic dark eye circles.
Makeup - Using an under eye concealer is the best way to hide the unsightly dark circles. Do not choose a shade that is much lighter than your skin tone else it will accentuate the baggy dark circles. Dab concealer gently under the eyes and blend it with the foundation. The inner corner of your eye is usually the darkest part, so ensure that it is well concealed. Rev up your tired looking eyes with gold-based concealers. Avoid mascara and eyeliner to the lower lashes for fear of drawing attention to the dark under eye circles.
