Sunday, August 7, 2011
SRK has once again managed to do something which only he can do. Yes, he is bringing together arch rivals Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra on stage to perform with him at an Eid event in Dubai. Together would be music maestros Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan. This five day long event in Dubai will have everything for entertainment right from adventure sports, shopping to leisure activities.
Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor are known for their ugly spats and catfights. In fact, the two actresses never share formal greetings with each other at award functions or other events. However, they have agreed to come together this time as both of them are awaiting the release of their mega projects- Kareena Kapoor in Ra.One and Priyanka Chopra in Don 2.
Further, when it comes to King Khan, not many can dare to refuse him!!

What's common between Big's Rann and News of The World scandal?
Monday, July 18, 2011
Ram Gopal Varma's 2010 flop has an uncanny resemblance to the News Of The World scandalPanned by critics and film enthusiasts alike, Rann, the 2010 box-office dud might get a fresh lease of life.
The film featuring Amitabh Bachchan as a Rupert Murdoch-styled media baron, seems to have strangely pre-empted the string of events leading to the closure of the popular 160-year-old British tabloid News Of The World on Sunday by its owner Murdoch.
On similar lines
The plot of Rann bears a discernible likeness to the News Of The World scandal. In both cases, the publishers crossed the line between news investigation and criminal violation of privacy to boost sales.
And if Rupert's son John Murdoch is alleged to be working behind his father's back, in Rann Big B's son (Kannada actor Sudeep) brings down the news house and ruins his father's reputation with his nefarious news- collecting activities.
No wonder then, producers Sheetal Talwar and Madhu Mantena feel the time is right to re-release the film, this time dubbed in English.
"I'm blown away by the similarities! Even Amitji has noticed the likeness. Ramu has always been ahead of his times, but with Rann he outdid himself.
It's almost like he could see the disaster that was waiting around the corner for News of The World, " says Mantena, who has flown to London to get an insight into the series of incidents that led to the death of the tabloid.
However, there is one major hitch. Director Ram Gopal Varma, it appears, is opposed to releasing the film again. Apparently, there have also been offers to re-release Ramu's Satya and Rangeela and also proposals to do sequels to both. But he has said a flat no to both. However, things may no longer be in his hands. While Mantena, who is Ramu's cousin, is hesitant to go ahead with the English version of the film without his consent, co-producer Talwar is determined to cash in on the News Of The World debacle. In fact, the dates for dubbing of the new version with the original cast are currently being worked out.
UK hacked!
Britain's scandalous tabloid News Of The World was forced to shut shop on July 10, after findings of illegal phone hacking by its staff.
The tabloid was infamous for the methods it employed to dig out dirt on famous personalities. It has been accused of tapping phone lines of the Royal household as well as families of soldiers who died in the line of duty.

Hrithik, be really honest! | |
That's the advice Cat Deeley, celebrity anchor of reality show, So You Think You Can Dance wants to give Hrithik Roshan before he makes his TV debut as a judge for a desi version of the same show, which will launch on June 18"Be really honest! It doesn't matter whether that makes you look good or bad but be sure that you are honest towards the participants of the show. That's what makes an entertaining show," says Catherine 'Cat' Elizabeth Deeley, who hosts the hit reality dance show, So You Think You Can Dance. When Cat gives advice on these matters it makes sense to pay attention. After all, she has gained immense popularity (and paved the way for UK TV exports Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan in the American TV industry) by hosting the popular show since 2006. Speaking with us from her pad in London, Cat also advised Hrithik to provide constructive criticism as a judge of a dance show. "If you can make the criticism constructive then that gets the viewers involved too. There's no point in saying that a performance was terrible but not offering a solution to make it better," she says. Giving pointers to participants should not be a very difficult task for the nimble Bollywood star, who apparently shut himself in a room for days together so he could watch audition tapes of the show. Cat and Hrithik seem to share the same level of passion and enthusiasm for dance-based reality shows, though Cat admits she occasionally does "a bit of a shoulder shake" on the show but can't dance as well as the participants. For Cat, So You Think You Can Dance (which airs on AXN) is as much about the stories, that the dancers bring to the show, as the performances. "Dance is, of course, the larger narrative. But the audience wants to hear the dancer's stories, relate to their successes and failures, trials and tribulations. That is something we can all identify with," she believes. Thanks to her immense experience as a reality show host, Cat has realised that it's important for participants to showcase their personality on this stage. "That's what makes people get off the couch and make that call to vote for you. The winner of the show may not be the best technical dancer but s/he usually is the most popular and entertaining," Cat points out. |

Kaif may play British teen
Katrina Kaif ... identified for the role of Scarlett. – AFP AN Indian director is hoping that Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif will play the role of Scarlett Keeling – the 15-year-old British girl whose bruised, half-naked body was found on a beach in the western state of Goa in February – in his new film.
Prabhakar Shukla said he wanted to show the seedier side of India’s beach paradise through the film titled Rave Party.
Fiona McKeown, Scarlett’s mother, expressed her reservations about the proposed film, which she feared would portray Scarlett in a bad light, rather than highlighting her killers and the police who allegedly tried to cover their tracks.
A British newspaper quoted McKeown as saying recently that it was far too soon to be thinking about a film about Scarlett’s life. “She hasn’t even been buried yet,” she had said then.
Scarlett’s body was found on Feb 18 on the popular Anjuna beach.
Scarlett Keeling on the Anjuna beach in Goa, India, a few days before her death in February after an all-night drinking and drug session. – AFP Shukla, however, defended his project.
“The film will, of course, be commercial in the Bollywood sense. Singing and dancing always enhances the story. But the moving story of Scarlett’s death will also be there.
“I want to show the public what is happening in Goa – the drug racket that’s going on at the vacation spot, and how people are slowly getting addicted and ruining their lives,” he explained.

Vidya Balan was just went at to take part in Madhubala: Okay… now Madhuri Dixit has often been compared to Madhubala, so obviously we were a little surprised to hear this. Apparently, the Parineeta-actress Vidya Balan was recently approached to play Madhubala. The actress hasn’t made up her mind yet. But if she does take up this role, then this will be the second time Vidya will be playing a real-life character. The actress is playing Sabrina Lall (Jessica Lall’s sister) in her next. Now that’s taking the term ‘get real’ a bit too seriously, isn’t it?
